About Pastor Stephen Matta
Pastor Steve was born and raised in suburban New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended LSU and Centenary College, where he met his wife, Julee. Steve and Julee married after college, as he was enrolling in Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
Steve later enrolled in Georgia State University and attained a degree in Business Information Systems and has been working in economics and educational research for almost thirty years. But he never left ministry and has continued to work with youth and young adults throughout north Georgia since his days at Candler.
In 2015, Pastor Steve became a part-time local pastor and since then has served in the Atlanta-Roswell District of the North Georgia U.M.C. Conference.
Steve and Julee have been married for 35 years and have three children, Alexandru (age 29), James (age 25), and Jais (age 20). Julee is a legal assistant with the U.S. Department of Justice – Office of the U.S. Trustee. She and Jais are active at Pleasant Grove and proud to call it their church home.
