Noisy Change Offering

The history of Noisy Change at Pleasant Grove:

Shortly after Pastor Stephen Horne arrived at Pleasant Grove UMC he suggested that our children become more involved in the Worship Service.  One example was having them collect a special offering in #1 metal vegetable cans.  The offering picked up the name Noisy Change Offering because of the sound made when change was placed in the can and when the cans were shaken as they were passed around.

These offerings were accumulated monthly and then forwarded to various causes.  Everyone was anxious to support and give to this offering.  The offering became a regular part of the worship service though the metal cans were replaced with plastic saucers in the Alms Basins.

The offering is collected and forwarded each month to a charity selected by the congregation at the beginning of the year.
